Lunch & Hunt

My girls and I gathered at the Galleria Mall for a photo scavenger hunt. I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun. A few coworkers helped put the item list together, and even though some of the things were a bit crazy (taking a picture with your entire team in a bathroom stall, for example), everyone participated. As much as I go to the galleria, I had no idea where to find some of those items. Needless to say, my team lost 😦

We ended the madness laughing at the pictures over lunch at the Cheesecake Factory.

A Better Me

Mommy: a better version of the old me

Today I get to celebrate the job I love the most–being a mom. There is nothing that makes me happier than spending time with my kids and seeing them smile. Being a mom is the greatest, most rewarding job on the planet, and I enjoy every second of it. The sleepless nights and dirty diapers are all worth it. I get to teach two little ones about life and how to be good people. I get to watch them grow and discover the world. How lucky am I? And even though they aren’t old enough to understand love, I know they love me unconditionally. I can put RaShad in time-out one minute and the next, he’s giving me a hug and apologizing. In his eyes, I can do no wrong (at least for now). They make me a better person because I know everything I do affects them. RaShad and Jayden are my everything, the reason I get out of bed in the morning, my motivation. I’d give up dinner at a four star restaurant for a night at Chuck E Cheese any day. That’s what being a parent has taught me: selflessness. My kids are my number one, and I would go to the moon and back for them. I am so much stronger and wiser because of them. I have learned patience, empathy, organization, maturity, time management…the list goes on and on. I am eternally grateful for my angels, and they will always remain my top priority. I thought I knew love before, but no, THIS is love…love on an entirely different level.

RaShad & Jayden--my strength, my weakness, my world.

April Date Night

I firmly believe in birthday celebrations. Your birthday isn’t “just another day.” It’s “your” day–the one day out of every year that you call the shots! One would think this day is anxiously awaited, but not everyone shares the same excitement.

Tomorrow is Tony’s birthday. Because we both work, we celebrated early. I had to practically beg him to celebrate! Saturday night, we went to Slick Willie’s for pool+drinks, followed by dinner at Champps. This was my first time ever playing pool. Of course, I lost both games, but it was nice to get out and do something different. Our waitress was amazing! She even introduced me to my new favorite drink: Bend Over Barbie. LOVE! This was also our first time away from Jayden. We were both hesitant at first, but we decided we needed a night out. We are always doing family things and never get alone time. My friend watched the kids, and I was 100% confident they were in the best hands. RaShad had a blast playing with her daughters! With the Children’s Festival and a night of playing with the girls, I’d say he had just as much of an amazing Saturday as we did.

That was our first date since 2008!!!! We vowed to go on at least one date per month. I wonder where he’ll take me in May…

Oh and he found the present I got him and opened it! Really??!! He just could not wait! He is the only person i know that does not like surprises. Tonight, RaShad and I are going to make him cupcakes to go along with the Oreo ice cream cake I made. Yum! Knowing him, he will discover them when he gets off work tonight and eat them all 🙂
